Nepal: In need of a leadership

By: Kamala Prasai
New York

The leader is one who touches the heart of the millions. The millions keep a leader inside their heart with respect. However, we Nepalese are very unfortunate not to have any such leader. At present, there is no one whom people can find a quality of leadership. The leader should have no personal interests. The interests of the leader are confined to the welfare of the nation and the people. The persons working for the party and family interests are not the leaders but the family heads and the agents of the party. At most, they could be pin-pointed as the politician. Nepal is in complete division. No one is ready to accept other’s point of view. There is very little chance that all views are amalgamated and brought into a useful compound. No one is ready to listen to the real masses. Had there been any leader, he or she might have stood up and said it is the people whose voice needed to be heard. Once the people’s voice is heard, it is very likely the position of a politician is eroded. Here, why Nepal’s politicians are in favor of division among the Nepalese people. ‘Divide and rule’ is the ultimate goal of all to remain on the helm of the society by protecting the status of politicians. There were few persons who had some quality of leadership. Among them, I can count these names: BP Koirala, Subarna Shumshere, Ganesh Man Singh, Manmohan Adhikari, CK Prasai and Krishna Prasad Bhattarai. It might be my personal opinion. These leaders never though of dividing nation and the people for the personal or party interests. They all followed the Great King Prithvi Narayan Shah’s principle of having single Nepal. They felt proud to salute the Great King Prithvi Narayan Shah. But the present politicians and many others saw our history of bravery as fault because of their deep-rooted interests. I was very much attracted to the politics and social services. I served as President of the Student’s Union representing Nepal Student’s Union affiliated to Nepali Congress. Following the removal of the Monarchy, Hindu religion and the efforts to bring Nepal’s division, like many of us, I also began to have no respect and trust upon the Nepali politicians. We, Nepalese need the leader who can unite us together, who can protect our glorious past and lead to the better future. It is only the Crown which can protect our unity and lead to better future. Hence, the relevance of the Crown still exists.

A reminder to Mr. Pushpa Kamal Dahal, ‘Prachanda’ Chairman, Unified Communist Party of Nepal, Maoist

Dear Mr. Dahal ‘Prachanda’

To see Nepal prosperous and peaceful, you and your Maoists- Young Communist League (YCL), People’s Liberation Army (PLA), Students Union (Revolutionary) must quit hooliganism and criminal activities. Stop burning tires, stop Nepal bandhas (shut-downs), stop intimidation, stop corruption, stop load-shedding, stop market irregularities, stop useless foreign trips, stop terrorizing people and stop instigating innocent people with rhetoric in favor of the Nepali people. In this way, Nepal can become prosperous and peaceful. Whatever you promise, try to fulfill otherwise don't promise too much and whenever you get chance. What happened about the words when you said YCL's character would be changed? Definitely, you have changed YCL to YCDL but the nature is same. The same hooliganism still exists. What about Prachanda Thaiba? What about so many lives killed by the Maoists? Who will take those responsibilities? Just garnering votes does not mean you and your party were pardoned. You are getting negative votes against Nepali Congress, UML, MJF and former Panchas. Anybody wishing to get real mandate from the people need to go through the referendum. The decisions made by already defunct parliament in 2006 against Hindu Nation and keeping Monarchy under question cannot be binding upon the people unless and until people exercise their primary rights through the referendum. First of all, there should be the general elections for a new parliament and it will decide on the subsequent matters. How come the dead parliament's plus unconstitutionally added unelected members of the rebels' decision binding upon Nepali people? If barrels of the guns sound stronger, then let's support the Nepal Army's likely takeover or instigate it for a takeover. Nepal Army can also exhibit its strength. If Nepal Army wants, it can easily crush the PLA and Maoists. Nepal Army will even get the support of the democratic parties because of the Maoists’ handling of state affair which is a complete failure. Maoists’ winning 3 seats in by-elections does not mean its position strengthened. Its votes considerably decreased in comparison to previous polls. In any case, polls don't mean for anything when the barrels of the guns sound supreme. Nepal Army possesses better guns with better trained cadets to deliver them wisely. Be aware! The political parties will have no option than to accept Nepal Army's barrels of the guns. Nepal is a country where we respect our guardians. We were a single family when Monarch was the guardian of all of us. We respected him and we were protected as his own family. There were no sounds of the barrel of the guns. Nepali Monarchs relied upon the love and respect of their nationals. At least, Nepali people should have their say once on Monarchy. Nepali people consider Monarch as the First Nobel Laureate for Literature (1921) Anatole France has said, "For every monarch overthrown the sky becomes less bright, because it loses a star".

Nepal Voting Choice: Subjugate or Sovereign Nation

Kamala Prasai

I Appeal to all Nepalese, Respected Seniors, dear Nepali brothers and sisters, and intellectuals from different sectors.
Nepal is heading towards the Constituent Assembly elections. Before entering the booth to cast your invaluable vote, I ask you to think very cautiously as to whom you should be giving your mandate and why.
Nepal is a nation where Devi Sita and Lord Gautam Buddha were born. We are enriched with Vedas and Puranas. Lord Pashupatinath himself wished to remain in our sacred land of Nepal. Muktinath is a compound of four dhams for pilgrims, which is in Nepal. Nepalese were considered to be the generations of Rishimunis.
Sagarmatha/Mount Everest is our pride. Likewise, the Crown has always stood for us as the strongest pillar to safeguard Nepal and Nepalese. Great King Prithvi Narayan Shah united us as one Nepali heart and saved it against the onslaught of the British Empire when no one could withstand it. Now, the leaders from seven parties (SPA) and Maoists who have already sold our souls to India while making their 12 point pact in New Delhi and 8 point agreement in the Indian Embassy to Nepal, want to sell Nepalese souls to India.
The government led by G. P. Koirala with the help of his unholy partners had no right to make an agreement with any country. Yet, he handed over the Arun III hydel-project to an Indian Government-owned company, Sutlej, and the illegal interim parliament rubber stamped it, without questioning. Please remember that when you vote.
I personally have always been in favor of the Nepali Congress. I served two years as the elected Nepal Students' Union President in Janata Multiple Campus, Itahari/Sunsari. As a member of Morang District Nepal Students Union, I did everything to make Nepali Congress win in all the past general elections. While spending 14 years as a teacher, I made huge contributions to Nepal Teachers' Association close to Nepali Congress Party.
Now, when the Nepali Congress is writing off its real image and discarding the Great Leader, the Late BP Koirala's philosophy, it is very difficult for an honest cadet like me to endorse the Nepali Congress that discarded the principles upon which it could always stand for the nation.
The Nepali Congress of today is completely a party of ultra-left pleasing members, shifting from its original place and moving to the left. In short, it has no distinction against the Maoists and UML or other communist parties that have no respect for religion, nationalism or patriotism. The vacuum that Nepali Congress created has now been occupied by the Rastriya Prajatantra Party - Nepal. This RPP - Nepal has avowed to stand for the Constitutional Monarchy and Hindu Sovereign Nation, Nepal.
Now, respected seniors, brothers and sisters, and intellectuals, think who you should vote for. Your vote this time can make Nepal a Sovereign Hindu Democratic Kingdom or a subjugate to our neighbor.
Let's choose the Sovereign Democratic Hindu Kingdom, rather than Federal Republic, which ultimately will turn into a subjugate.

King is the light of Nepal

Kamala Prasai

The nation in absence of a King looks like something is missing. The present Nepal seems to me the day without a light. The time has already come that the Nepali people has to search for a light. King is the light of Nepal. In Nepalese history when King reigned, the people never lost their lives with hunger. Each and every one had a roof, a piece of cloth and a meal to eat. People were happy to celebrate their festivals with a peace of mind. The symbol of peace, the white doves were flying everywhere in the sky. The sounds of a flute and the traditional music (Panche Baja) making all surroundings quiet and diligent. King's representation has been carrying the reflection of Nepal's peace and dignity.Nepal has witnessed a big change but there is no peace, no security and no guarantee of lives. In the name of New Nepal, the leaders made rhetoric to fulfill the wishes of the people. Where has gone that big rhetoric? Is that limited to rhetoric? An announcement of a huge budget to turn Nepal into a prosperous nation has to be implemented in reality.Nepal is a small and beautiful nation. Its tradition and culture are very rich. To preserve Nepal's rich culture, tradition and its beauty Kings have been the divinely gift. Even in the epics (Vedas and Puranas) it is stated whenever difficulties arise and faith comes into the danger, the god will come to rescue. The situations of Nepal resemble the epics. Nepal is in difficult situation. It is in the verge of disintegration. The unity is about to break. To avoid all these, there is just one credible source in Nepal and that is King.To be a true observer, it is possible only if you are away from home. I might have not been a true observer if I had been in a country. The nation with a King is far better than in his absence. With him Nepalese are safe, with him Nepalese are united and with him Nepalese and Nepal are secured forever. After-all, King is the light of Nepal.

Letter to the Madam Secretary of State, Honorable Hillary Rodham Clinton

Ref: ‘Drawing Madam Secretary’s attention towards Nepal’s political evolution’

Madam Secretary,

First of all, we would like to congratulate you on your assumption as the Secretary of State. We would also like to wish Madam Secretary for all the success on your future endeavors.
Let us now draw your attention towards Nepal’s political evolution which is heading from bad to worse. The democratic process has been pushed aside by a person like Mr. Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ who is heading the first Republic Government of Nepal as the Prime Minister. Instead of convincing people that raising weapon will only harm the democratic order, nation and the world, the Prime Minister of Nepal Mr. Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, the Chairman of the ultra left Unified Communist Party of Nepal- Maoist, has encouraged the people to capture the state power by forceful means if his government is toppled by the democratic process.
Nepal’s Prime Minister who has been the rebel leader for ten years is still acting as rebellion even though he is heading the coalition government of three parties namely, Unified Communist Party of Nepal- Maoist, Unified Marxist-Leninist (UML) and Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF). To be noted, during Maoists’ rebellion era about 15,000 (fifteen thousand) innocent Nepali citizens have lost their lives. Thousands of kids were made orphans forcing them to stay as the street-dwellers. The rebel Maoists’ using of kids as their human shield for the protection against the then Royal Nepal Army is a reminder of terrorism carried out by the Khmer Rouge, Shining Path and Hamas.
Following Nepal’s forceful entrance into Republican order without people’s direct verdict, the freedom has been the story of the past. The journalists and the media should be very careful at their deliveries. Antagonizing Rebel’s government can cost lives in a second. A trend has been established that whoever highlights the wrong doings of rebel Maoists or its associate organizations must pay with his or her lives. The Himal media house was attacked by not other than the members of the Maoist Party and its affiliate, the notorious Young Communist League (YCL). The denial of freedom and human rights are the day-to-day business of the rebel Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ led government and its affiliate Young Communist League (YCL).
Madam Secretary,
You are well aware of Nepal since you have visited Nepal together with Ms. Chelsea Clinton when late King Birendra reigned.. Madam Secretary had also been the guest of honor to late King Birendra’s Royal Palace. In your very popular book, “Living History”, Madam Secretary also mentioned about the trekking with a young girl and expressed about Nepal’s natural beauties. It is sad to remind you Madam Secretary that today’s Nepal is forced to witness violence, torture, capturing of private properties, kidnappings and killings. The absence of Monarchy has been felt in every sector.. The religious harmony is no longer in place. Nepal’s strength that is her culture and traditions have been attacked and forced upon the people to accept them as directed and wanted by the leaders, their parties and affiliate organizations of the so called day-dreamer of New Nepal. Because of this sort of totalitarianism of the leaders and parties in power of echelons, the Nepalese people are forced to flee the villages, cities and countries for the safety of their lives. Nepal’s deteriorating situation is an outcome of the denial of the people’s rights. People were not consulted before adopting Republican order in Nepal which is completely alien to our 27 million Nepali citizens. More than 60 percent of them who are completely illiterates even don’t know the terminology “Republic”. Hence, our pledge is that the people must be given their rights to choose the system they like through the referendum.
Madam Secretary,
Like everybody in the world is looking towards you for the visionary diplomatic leadership in keeping world peace, we Nepali people are also looking for your kind gesture towards Nepal’s peace and development as desired by the people of Nepal. We Nepalese are confident that Madam Secretary will be kind enough to extending assistance to the people of Nepal for the establishment of their primary rights: rights to life and rights to choose the system they like. Thank You.
With due honor,
Kamala Prasai,

Efforts to destroy cultural heritage

Kamala Prasai, New York

The language, literature, culture and tradition are the real treasures of any nation. These fields should be left out of dirty politics. These are the elements that help people bind together and help towards keeping nation intact. Language, literature, culture and tradition represent the nation. The richness of a nation is also measured by the language, literature, culture and tradition.

Nepal is a small nation. But it is very rich in languages, literatures, cultures and traditions. Although Nepal has less than 30 million people, it has more than thirty languages spoken in its land. People celebrate so many festivals attached to our culture and tradition. Nepali people living in the Kathmandu valley celebrate ‘Indra Jatra’ to please the god for the rain shower during the harvest season. People in ‘Terai’, the southern plateau celebrate ‘Chhath’ to please the Sun to bring a light in their lives by fulfilling the wishes they have. The people who live in the mountainous regions celebrate ‘Lhosar’ as the beginning of the New Year to bring the happiness in the whole year. Kathmandu locals celebrate their new year as ‘Nhudaya Bhintuna’ for the same purpose. People celebrate the ‘Buddha Jayanti’ to remember Lord Buddha’s enlightenment irrespective of what part of the nation they reside. People from all parts of the country gather in Pashupatinath Temple to celebrate ‘Shiva Ratri’ to pray Lord Shiva-Shankar for the well-being and happiness.

Nepali people living in a same land have been taking the fellow citizens’ invaluable languages, literatures, cultures and traditions as the addition to their own rich heritage. Thus, people were happy to have different languages, literatures, cultures and traditions and enjoying to accept all of them as their own and coming closer to each other. It is this reason the Maoists are smelling their ultimate goal to establish People’s Republic shattering because of the closeness of Nepali people having different languages, literatures, cultures and traditions. The Maoists saw benefits in ‘divide and rule’ and this prompted the Maoists to encroach in every sectors of the society. The appointment of the Vice-Chancellor of Nepal Academy must be considered from above perspectives.

Maoist Minister Gopal Kirati’s appointment of Maoist cadet as Vice-Chancellor of the Nepal Academy is nothing more than to invite division and clashes among the intellectuals, litterateurs, artists, writers and poets in the name of inclusiveness. Under the table appointment of the Vice-Chancellor who proudly claims to be the Maoist People Liberation Army cadet has invited growing atrocities among the intellectuals, writers, poets and artists. This appointment should be declared null and void. A person who is purely engaged in intellectual pursuits or who has contributed towards promoting language, arts and literature has to be given the responsibility and not to a person who claims to be the Maoist militia. We cannot accept Maoist encroachment everywhere. We cannot see our heritage being destroyed by the Maoists.

No Nepal sans King

By Kamala Prasai

We, Nepali women diaspora strongly believe that Nepal has no future sans Monarchy. Nepal will lose its existence as a sovereign independent nation. It has already been tested that it is the only Monarchy which wants to see Nepal standing tall in front of all the nations around the world. The Monarchy of Nepal has never made Nepali people feel ashamed in front of parahia. We must feel proud for the Monarchy trying to rescue our pride being tarnished. We, Nepali people have equal standings with the people around the world just because Nepal's Monarchy was there to uplift our pride. Had not there been a Monarchy on people's side, Nepal would have lost its independent credential long before. No Nepali should forget the Great King Prithvi Narayan Shah saved Nepal from British invasions and let us remain free from dominition.
Coming to recent incidents, the handling of state affairs by the political leaders made Nepal completely a mess and it seems, the Constituent Assembly will further complicate that without leaving a room for any solution. When leaders can compromise sovereignty with the southern neighbors for the small interests, the post CA elections will bring a grand opportune to the world's most opportunist Nepali leaders entrhone themselves with never imagined utopian crown. The post CA elections will only pave the way for horse trading with the application of selling all what Nepal can prosper with and remain intact under double triangular flag and Crown for the vested interests of political leaders.
The survey conducted by the Nepali women diaspora clearly found that Nepal will remain safe and intact only under crown. Thus believeing Monarchy is the only force which has no selfish motive except making Nepal's survival.
Since Nepal has always remained peaceful nation moving forward towards steady progress under different Monarchs, an institution of Monarchy is vital for Nepal's future peace, progress and existence. It is therefore, we Nepali women diaspora cannot accept the result of the CA unless and until the final verdict is given by the Nepali people themselves through the referendum on the new Constitution produced by the CA and on Morarchy as well.

President Obama: Hope for the world

By: Kamala Prasai

The American people had so much expectation from Mr. Barrack Obama. The Americans exhibited the brilliance while voting for him. They thought the talent of Mr. Obama could not be the substitute. However, the Americans were concerned to the economy and social issues of the US more than any other issues. They were much concerned about the social security, health insurance and employment related problems. The crumbling US economy made Americans worried more than anything else. The Americans placed him to the world’s busiest job in anticipation that Mr. Obama would bail them out from the economic hardship. Therefore, President Obama’s top priority will definitely be on devising the policies that guarantee the well-being of the Americans. President Obama’s guarantee of the second term relies upon this very fact.
Similar to that of the Americans, the people of the world are also looking towards the Obama administration for its support in the economic development package. The ‘Third World’ is affected with the slowdown of the world economy. They lack the strengths to cope with the present crumbling economy. Out of the bad economy, the ‘Third World’ is witnessing the rise in frustrations among their people. The frustrations prompted out of the bad economy always lead to the rapid rise of the organizations with the proletariats taking control over them. And these organizations invariably lay the responsibilities to the United States for their bad economy. The nexus between the rulers of the countries and the US is what the proletariat organizations always see for the bad state of their economy. This is how the bigger portions of youths are lured towards the proletariat organizations. They are invariably anti-Americans. The US is neo-imperialist in their eyes.
The South Asian continent is not out of this anti-US phobia. Besides being a villain in the eyes of the Islamist Jihadists, the US is put responsible for any misery of the South Asian continent by the champions of the proletariats. It is the habit of human beings to lay responsibilities to the strongest. The US is the sole super-power and thus it has to bear the blames though in many cases the blames are not credible.
After the fall of the Soviet Union, the US policy of containing the communist virus has a little shift. For it, as if the virus has been eradicated? In reality the viruses are ever increasing. The growing numbers of the proletariats should be taken care of. Otherwise, the achievements of the 90s political development throughout the world have no meaning. The era of the developments in democracies has to be continued.
For the sake of the South Asian people, the United States as the sole super-power of the world must ensure for the help against the obstacles of the development of the democracies. Thus, containing the rise in proletariats with the bearings of the name of Mao is what the Obama administration should consider while devising the South Asia policy.

The Founder of Nepal

By Kamala Prasai

Nepal, God's creation, which was decorated, expanded and protected by our forefathers. They have handed Nepal to us in a beautiful shape. With an empty stomach our forefathers bravely fought the enemies for the nation's independence. With a few brave soldiers carrying just stones, khukuris (traditional weapons) and limited number of guns Prithvi Narayan Shah, the great founded Modern Nepal.
All of his lives have been sacrificed by King Prithvi Narayan Shah to build Nepal. Just remembering such a great historical personality is not enough, we need to follow his deeds and protect his ideals of one big beautiful Nepal than to blindly working to disintegrate this heavenly land.
The lessons of bravery carried out by the Shah dynasty is directly linked to the dignity of the Nepalese people. This unbreakable bondage made Nepal safer till date. With this, Kings could save Nepal from the foreign dominations. Thus, the breaking of this bondage is nothing more than to keep Nepal under domination.
The words 'Nation's founder' can only be decorated to a personality who builds nation. The Great King Prithvi Narayan Shah is that personality who could only be decorated with that term. How come today's political leaders are attempting to replace him?
These leaders are trying to disintegrate our Nepal to satisfy their personal interests. By breaking a nation into pieces, Nepal's leaders are trying to become the founder of federated states. This is just the daydream of the leaders. Nepal does not lack patriots like Kaji Kalu Pande, Rajendra Laxmi, Bahadur Shah, Balabhadra Kunwar, Bhakti Thapa, Amar Singh Thapa and so many others. These patriots will never allow to become leaders' wishes fulfilled.
In modern Nepal's history, there is no any incident that Kings have ever tried to undermine our dignity rather they have put every efforts to protect and uplift it. Kings' true intentions of making Nepal a prosperous and self-reliant were hindered by some quarters to satisfy their dirty needs. The Great King Prithvi Narayan Shah had with him honest and patriot associates to identify those culprits and succeeded in his mission to unify Nepal.
King Gyanendra left the throne thinking this unified Nepal founded by his forefather must be kept intact at any cost. He thought people would be happier and safer. However, day-by-day the situation of Nepal is worsening. Anarchy is taking over peace, prosperity and security.
The center of a faith of Hindus all over the world, Pashupatinath Temple is dragged into dirty politics. The Maoist led government intentionally created mess everywhere and now is creating mess in the Pashupatinath Temple to dismantle the religious harmony existed in Nepal till date.
The priests, management team and the devotees were attacked by the hooligans of Young Communist League (YCL) under the guidance of Maoist led government. Such thing never happened when Kings of Nepal ruled and would have never happened if King were on the top providing us guardianship.
Today's leaders of Nepal are showing no interests of making youths aware of wrong doings. In stead, they see opportune for them when these youths are heading towards violence. These all remind me one beautiful paragraph of a song written by G. Shah (King Gyanendra Shah), "Hey Yuba timi hau desh ka shakti, timi hau desh ka bhakti, timi hau desh ka rakshak, timi hau desh ka palak" meaning in substance , "youth, you are the power of the nation, you are the protector of the nation".
I would like to mention one more paragraph of other song written by G. Shah, which I am listening while I am writing this article, " bachnu nai chha yedi bhane bacha Nepali bhai, bolnu nai chha yedi bhane bola Nepali nai, ....... Mutu bhari chhati bhari Nepali bhai bacha, har shasha-shasha mechi-kali liyi bacha" meaning, "if you want to live, live as Nepali, if you want to speak, speak Nepali, ........ In every breath inhale Mechi and Mahakali and live like a Nepali, in the whole of your breast and heart live like a true Nepali. Thus, a personality like King Gyanendra Shah who loves our nation with heart can only be the founder of New Nepal.

Let the Nepali National Flag rise

Without King everywhere we can see mess. There is no security to life. A nice, beautiful and a very smart lady reporter Ms. Uma Singh who tried to spread the message of peace had to sacrifice her life. Women have been tortured physically and mentally. Women cannot raise any issue that is very important to our Nepal . Whoever comes to forefront to raise issues for the betterment of the women and the entire society are kept aside. There is no reform in any sector. The Prime Minister, Ministers and leaders’ foreign tours made Nepal waste millions of Rupees. With this money, Nepal can afford to mitigate unemployment problems. A person who made us proud Nepali is dishonored. Instead of showing Prithvi Narayan Shah’s great deeds to the world, the history (truth) has been tried to put in a dark. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and other Ministers see Nepali national flag in front of their office buildings, cars, on the tables and in their official pads every morning, every day and every night. Do they know, because of whom that flag raises? It is the same Prithvi Narayan Shah, the Great, handed that world’s most beautiful flag to us. This flag is not just the piece of a cloth. It is our pride. It is our unity. It is our life. We need to salute him in every bit of our lives for his gift. To make this beautiful gift of Great King Prithvi Narayan Shah rise high above the Sagarmatha and everywhere in the world, there is just one person and he is our Monarch, His Majesty King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev. My daily routine begins from crossing the street where the United Nations building stands. While passing through the UN building I have to see the flags of 191 nations including the flag of the world body, the United Nations. Unless I look at the flag of Nepal , I won't be ready to move. Just after catching the glimpse of my country Nepal's flag, I start feeling very proud that I can stand just in front of the United Nations as the citizen of the sovereign and independent Nepal with full of glories. I feel like to salute the Great King Prithvi Narayan Shah thousands of times. What a great job he did for us. What a great personality with a great perseverance and dedication. Are we Nepalese of New Nepal paying due respect in a right way to a right person who made us proud Nepali? If we do not show our respect to a person who made us to be respected, who will respect us? King Prithvi Narayan Shah's deeds will die together with Nepal's end. However, Nepal will never vanish from the map. Likewise, Prithvi Narayan Shah's contributions will never be written off the golden history of Nepal . If we are a true Nepali, we need to rise up and say no more to distortions of history, no more to disrespect to a person who made us respected and no more to any efforts to break Nepali land in the name of Republic. If we are Nepali, we need to join hands together to make our Monarch's comeback to save our Nepal's disappearance. Let the Nepali National Flag rise forever.

Kamala Prasai, NY
